Our story

We are Joe and Ria, serial hobbypreneurs. I think that the word micro business fits us better than small business! Hy Hermitage began as a creative outlet for our DIY projects through our Youtube channel @hyhermitagediy. We share our projects there from furniture flips to home renovation, to off grid builds at our property.

My (Ria’s) love for working with natural materials was first instilled in me by my mom who makes our goat milk soap. She taught me the importance of creating a product that focuses on purity and nourishment, the concept of which I have applied to our beeswax candles. We source our beeswax from local and regional beekeepers to ensure purity and the shortest supply chain possible. We love offering a quality product that you as the consumer can purchase with confidence.

Joe handcrafts each leather piece including the tooling, stitching and cutting. Each piece is truly a labor of love (or frustration & dedication).
